Cycle across Japan at its widest and highest point!
Join a small group of friends for this classic ride that takes us through the Three Main Alpine Ranges of Honshu following great rivers and riding some of Japan`s highest roads. The focus is on fun, while also making the most of this opportunity to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.
Japan Coast to Coast was started by three Nagoya-based friends – The Three Amigos – who enjoy cycling and wanted to make a difference. It’s not for profit and proceeds from this event go to HOPE International Development Agency, Japan to support their work in Tohoku and helping the poor in Asia and Africa (see below).
Date
This challenge is scheduled to take place on September 17-22, 2012. This coincides with the Silver Week holidays.
Cost
We will announce the exact cost soon, but expect the final figure to be around 70,000 yen per person, which includes five nights accommodation, breakfast and dinner each day, road manager and support vehicle (if there are 6 or more riders), and a selection of Japan Coast to Coast merchandise (sunglasses, t-shirt, etc)
Fundraising Challenge
Participants in Japan Coast to Coast enjoy not only a great cycle tour, but the opportunity of `leveraging` their pedal power to help others: cycling for a cause. Without exception, participants in our charity rides over the years have said that, by far, the fundraising was the most rewarding part of the challenge! While it may appear daunting, participants find that it is easier than they think, using our simple 3-step system in raising money. here.
To make the fundraising aspect of the challenge more accessible, we have introduced various target levels. So decide what level you are going for and then you will be surprised how easily you surpass it. With each level we will offer rewards and prizes which will be announced two months before the ride.
- Entry Level is 100 yen per kilometer ( 500 km ride = 50,000 yen minimum)
- Peleton Level: 101 – 499 yen per km
- Breakaway Level: 500 – 1999 yen per km
- Yellow Jersey: 2000 – 4999 yen per km
- Super Star Status: 5000+ yen per km
