As it turned out, progress on Day 1 was a bit slower than we thought, so we didn’t actually make the detour to see Yoro Falls. But if you’re ever in the area, do go see it. It’s a lovely, mystical spot (excpet on weekends and holidays when it’s overrun with tourists). We assembled at Noseki station and took our bikes down to the waterfront, which is part of a bird sanctuary, and dipped our back tires in the water as the symbolic start of our journey.
